Ten Year Anniversary Party

  • Monster: Art, Clothing & Gifts (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Monster: Art, Clothing & Gifts is celebrating ten years of local art on September 20, 2018.

Swag bags filled with free loot - including limited edition stickers - will be given out to the first 200 attendees. At 10 p.m., ten gift bags stuffed with great prizes will be given away to ten of the luckiest people on the planet (in that space and at that specific time - others, elsewhere, maybe luckier).

There will be snacks. There will be drinks. There will be coloring. There will be other people there that you can talk to. Music will be playing. You will leave feeling refreshed and happy.

Other ways we’re celebrating!
Some of Monster’s favorite artists have been invited to create a piece of work incorporating the squid from Monster’s logo.

Kelly Affleck of Tomato Tomato
Jessie Beans
Dave Bloomfield of Starheadboy
Joseph Brooks
Stasia Burrington
Braden Duncan of Clockwork Art
Justin Hillgrove of Imps and Monsters

About Betty Turbo:
Oh hey, it's me! Your friend Betty Turbo. My life as a Maker of Things began in a family of very artistic grizzly bears in the snowy wilds of Alaska. I earned a BFA in photography from RIT, and then moved to Nashville to get down and dirty with the type spirits of the universe at Hatch Show Print. After letterpress heaven and a stint as a professional cake decorator, I now focus full-time on art shenanigans from my headquarters in Oregon.

Urban Witchery with Rhodora Jacob

Rhodora Jacob is an artist who loves to create beauty in a mixture of modern influences and an essence of whimsy, with a touch of traditional techniques. She believes art is a form that is expressed freely and has the potential to find itself in unusual places. She strives to achieve the free spirit and curiosity that her art continues to teach her every day through exploration and open-mindedness. Most importantly we must retain our child-like wonder.

Puppy Party with Katie Clark

  • Monster: Art, Clothing & Gifts (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Katie Clark is a full-time freelance artist, painting her favorite things. Katie grew up on a farm in Virginia, in love with both art and video games. She decided to pursue a life combining both of these loves, and moved to the Seattle area to attend DigiPen in 2003. After earning a degree in Computer Animation and graduating as the school's first ever female valedictorian, she worked at Nintendo for 6 years as a 3D artist. She is credited on games and apps in some of her favorite franchises: Mario, Metroid, Animal Crossing, Kirby and Donkey Kong to name a few! Now she has returned to her original love: traditional art.

Katie celebrates the characters that bring back happy childhood memories, and honors the new games that take over her life. She brings her work to comicons and conventions in the Pacific Northwest, and her paintings are hanging all around the world!

Ballard Night Out with Henry

Ryan Henry Ward who signs his work simply as Henry, is an American artist who has been described as "Seattle's most prolific muralist." Publicly active as an artist only since 2008, by the close of 2014, he had painted over 180 murals on surfaces such as buildings exteriors, school interiors, garages, and even vehicles, primarily in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. Ryan Henry Ward's vision of creating primitive images with a dream-like, surreal quality has come to fruition. He wants the natural rawness of the painting process to show through his balanced, bright, and whimsical work.

Ballard Night Out: Featured Artist Shanalee Hampton

Shanalee Hampton learned to embroider as a child but never took the skill very seriously until she realized she could use her powers for good. She has spent the last three years stitching art inspired by pop culture, literature, and sometimes spirituality. Her current series is inspired by her love for Japanese horror and mythology. She wants her embroidery hoops to provide you with a good laugh or maybe the pep talk you need. She lives in SE Portland with her husband, Shampton, where they make things every single day
